Go Wellington gives the ride of your life

GO Wellington is proud to again be a major sponsor of the Ride of Your Life event to be held Thursday, 5 November from 6pm to 9pm.

“GO Wellington will be donating all cash fares taken on the buses between 6pm and 10.30pm to the Wellington Free Ambulance service,” says Bruce Kenyon, General Manager of GO Wellington.

The three hour Ride of Your Life event, held on Wellington’s waterfront, precedes the annual Pelorus Trust Sky Show fireworks display, and aims to raise funds and awareness for the Wellington Free Ambulance service.

The Ride of Your Life event will entertain people with live music and a three hour thrill ride featuring choreographed shows of jet boats, thunder cats, waterskiing, wakeboarding and more.

“The Wellington Free Ambulance provides an invaluable service to the Wellington community and we feel it’s important to get in behind and support this event,” says Mr Kenyon.

“With over 30,000 people expected to attend the Pelorus Trust Sky Show on Thursday evening, it’s going to make sense for people to catch the buses and avoid the parking and congestion problems.”

“Donating the cash fares taken on our buses is a great way for GO Wellington to show its commitment to the Wellington Free Ambulance service and in turn support the Wellington community as a whole.”

“We hope everyone will take the bus and pay by cash.  The more people who get on a GO Wellington bus and pay their fare with cash, the more money will go to the Wellington Free Ambulance service.”

GO Wellington will also be playing an important role in the Pelorus Fireworks display with General Manager Bruce Kenyon being the man to set things alight by sending off the first fireworks of the evening.

“The Pelorus Sky Show is another fantastic Wellington event which always attracts large crowds of excited people,” says Mr. Kenyon.  “We are delighted and honoured that we have been given the opportunity to kick the whole event off and send off the first fireworks.”

GO Wellington has also provided 12 months free bus travel which was auctioned at the Wellington Free Ambulance Annual Dinner Event that was held at the Town Hall on 17th October.
