Wellington bus commuters impacted by striking unions from 9am on Wednesday, 28 April
26th, April 2010
The Wellington Tramways and M&C unions have instructed bus operators GO Wellington and Valley Flyer that they will be undertaking strike action on Wednesday, 28 April from 9am.
“The unions have advised their services will cease between 9am and 2pm,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Operations.
GO Wellington, Valley Flyer, Mana Coach Services and the Wellington Tramways and M&C unions were about to enter into negotiations around the unions’ claim for a regional Collective Employment Agreement to cover all three companies, which would affect approximately 280 GO Wellington and 100 Valley Flyer union members.
“We advise customers to make alternate arrangements for their travel on Wednesday from 9am. With the strike not occurring until 9am and a return to work at 2pm we anticipate school services will not be impacted at either end of the day.”
The unions' strike action will impact GO Wellington, Valley Flyer, and Airport Flyer services. Runcimans bus services will still operate.
