GO Wellington routes 48 and 49 to cease at end of trial period
GO Wellington routes 48 and 49 will cease running from Friday, 27 March.
Routes 48 and 49 ran from Karori Park to Queensgate via Johnsonville and from Wellington Zoo to Queensgate via Wellington’s CBD, respectively.
“Our customers told us they wanted to be able to catch a bus to visit shopping malls. So, we introduced these innovative new services on a trial basis just prior to the Christmas shopping period to link people with shopping destinations,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager Operations, NZ Bus.
“We monitor our services for ways to enhance them and add value for our customers. These two new services were examples of this,” says Mr Fulljames.
“However, they have just not seen the kind of patronage required to make the services sustainable. As a result, the decision was made to cease them at the conclusion of the trial period on Friday, 27 March.”
“We would like to thank route 48 and 49 customers for their patronage of the service,” says Mr Fulljames.
Passengers wishing to travel by bus to Queensgate can catch the Airport Flyer, 91, and the Valley Flyer service 83. Each of these buses travels via Courtenay Place, Lambton Quay and Thorndon.
