How many artists does it take to turn a bus into a work of art?

Get down to the Cuba Street Carnival on Saturday, 21 February and watch as a group of local and overseas artists turn a GO Wellington bus into a moving piece of art.

“GO Wellington’s involvement in the Cuba Street Carnival’s 10th anniversary is a continuation of the company’s involvement over the past several years,” says Zane Fulljames, General Manager, Southern Region.

“This is the first time that members of the public will be able to watch such a large scale piece of art being created in a public forum like this,” says Mr Fulljames. “Here at GO Wellington, we think the ambition of taking art to the people is an excellent one.”

“Visiting German artists, Via Grafik, and Auckland’s Cut Collective will transform an entire GO Wellington bus into motorised street art at the entrance to Allen Street on Courtenay Place, between 11am and 6pm. The bus will be seen on Wellington’s streets until the end of March.”

The StreetArt bus will also take part in the carnival’s Night Parade which starts at 9pm.

GO Wellington has been a sponsor of the Cuba Street Carnival since 2005. The carnival is New Zealand’s largest street party and is held every two years. It attracts an audience of 150,000.
