Statement

In recent months, GO Wellington and the Tramways and M&C unions have been participating in negotiations to enter into a Collective Employment Agreement (CEA).  Discussions have been undertaken over four months since negotiations were initiated on 2 July.

The unions and GO Wellington today reached agreement on a proposed CEA.

“For negotiation to be effective, it requires two parties to come to the table,” says Zane Fulljames, GM Southern Region, NZ Bus. “The unions have agreed to recommend the proposed CEA to their members at a ratification meeting.”

The ratification meeting will be held next week . As  soon as details are confirmed, GO Wellington will communicate with its customers to advise them of the disruption to services.

“We are delighted that all parties are focused on securing an agreement that meets the needs of both our customers and our people,” says Mr Fulljames.

The parties have jointly agreed to this statement:
“Wellington City Transport Limited and the Tramways Union and the Manufacturing and Construction Workers Union reached an agreement on a proposal for a Collective Employment Agreement at mediation today.  The unions will recommend to their members that they ratify the proposal at a ratification meeting to be held next week.”
